Maybe the young can show us…
Summer allows us the opportunity to enjoy a change of weather and to be outside and embrace that special beauty
Summer is also a time used by many to engage in direct service to the poor in a greater way than they can during the other eight months of the year.
I know that students from both Niagara and St. John’s avail themselves of opportunities to head down to Panama, Philadelphia, and many other places for plunges and fuller experiences of working alongside many members of the Vincentian Family in the service of the poor that they engage in all year round.
Some young people from all of our works will be traveling to Brazil for World Youth Day. Two confreres will accompany them and, with them, participate in a special pre session focused on the Vincentian Charism. Our Superior General, Fr. Gay, will be joining them and young Vincentians from around the world prior to the beginning of World Youth Day.
Summer is an opportunity, whether we are young or old, to reach out to others and in particular the poor. Maybe the young can show us all the way.
