After 18 months of dreaming, planning, collaboration, and construction, the renovations to St. Catherine’s in Germantown are complete. The space includes 24 residential rooms, a stunning living room and gathering space, Sun Room, Spa, Employee Care Base, and a beautifully refurbished statue of St Catherine Laboure. The feel of the building has been transformed from a sterile, clinical nursing center to an inviting, home-like atmosphere.
St Catherine’s was built in 1980 and has served as the primary health care center for Vincentian priests and brothers. This long over-due renovation was made possible by the generous donation of Norman and Cecelia Demurs. The Demurs were long-time supporters of the Vincentian efforts in Panama in the 1950’s and have continued with their support of the community throughout the years. A plaque acknowledging their contributions will be crafted and displayed outside of the renovated Sun Room.
A dedication and blessing of the space will take place by Gregory Cozzubbo, C.M., Superior of St Vincent’s Seminary in September.
