Fr. Rooney Inducted into Hall of Fame

Congratulations to Fr. Aidan Rooney who was inducted into his high school alma mater’s (Monsignor Farrell High School, Staten Island, NY) Alumni Hall of Fame on Thursday, December 12, 2019.
Fr. Farrell is an alumnus of the class of 1974 and was chosen based on the indoctrination’s criteria of embodying “the moral and character ideals of Vir Fidelis by making extraordinary contributions to his community, the Monsignor Farrell family, and/or has distinguished himself through remarkable achievement in his chosen career or calling. The ideal candidate is someone who has shown significant institutional support of the school through generosity of time, energy, talent or treasure, who elevates the standing and public image of the school, and who continually works to further the legacy of Monsignor Farrell High School.”

Upon graduation, Fr. Rooney earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from St. John’s University. In 1979, he entered the Vincentian seminary to study for the priesthood and was admitted to the Congregation of the Mission in 1981, and ordained to the Priesthood in 1984.

He currently serves as Vice President for Mission Integration at Niagara University and Superior of the local Vincentian Community. Fr. Rooney also serves on his religious community’s leadership team, and on the board of DePaul International, an international non-profit dedicated to the elimination of homelessness in alliance with the United Nations and the European Union.
