Johnny’s Angel Awards Dinner Raises Record $335,000 for St. John’s Bread & Life
The 18th Annual Johnny’s Angel Awards Dinner raised a record $335,000 this year for St. John’s Bread & Life. The event, held April 21 at St. John’s University, recognizes individuals who have helped St. John’s Bread & Life in its mission to provide food and other assistance to people who are hungry. In addition, it seeks to raise general awareness of the issue of poverty in Brooklyn and Queens, New York.
St. John’s Bread & Life is located in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. It serves more than 2,600 meals daily through its soup kitchens and food pantry. This past year alone it served over 800,000 meals.
The organization does more than just provide food, however. St. John’s Bread & Life is a full-service agency that offers legal referrals, support groups, nutritional counseling, medical support in partnership with Care for the Homeless, Inc., an on-site Food Stamp Application program, and a Tax Preparation program.
The Johnny’s Angel Awards Dinner gives St. John’s Bread & Life a special opportunity to thank those who have helped its mission over the past year. Indeed, the organizations’s effectiveness is the result of the financial assistance, the caring, the hard work, and the vision of so many individuals.
