The Vincentians (the Priests and Brothers of St. Vincent de Paul) will kick off their 170th anniversary in Philadelphia with an interactive art event.

On Feb. 28, the order will team up with the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal to host an interactive event with artist William Butler. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., dozens of local community members — many of whom have been impacted by the good works of the Vincentians –will help to create a painting that highlights the rich history of the order in Philadelphia.

The event will take place at St. Vincent’s Church, located at 109 East Price Street in Philadelphia.

Starting from their hub in Germantown — where more than 29 percent of residents live below the poverty line –the order has impacted countless Philadelphians through community organizations including PAR Recycle Works, which helps to employ and support individuals reentering the community after incarceration; My Place Germantown, which provides housing and support for the homeless; and Face to Face, which combats hunger and homelessness in the city.
