Excitement is mounting as the Holy Family Vietnamese Catholic Community of Greensboro, a mission church of St. Mary’s, prepares to open its doors for Masses.

Seeking more space for Vietnamese Masses, faith formation, and other community events, the Vietnamese Catholic Community were able to purchase a former Korean Catholic Church thanks to their successful food fundraising events. Now, they will have room to continue to build and grow their community.

“Everybody’s really excited. When we ask for support, people do all they can. They can’t wait to move into the new house—our own home,” said Mike Vuong, a member of the Holy Family community.

St. Mary’s currently hosts nine weekly Masses— two in Vietnamese, three in English, and four in Spanish, making it a vibrant but crowded parish.

More than 30 years ago, Fr. Michael [Nguyen], gathered the Vietnamese community at St. Mary’s to celebrate Mass,” said Fr. Joseph Nguyen, CM.

Now, the Vincentians will open this mission church soon at 4112 Romaine Street in Greensboro, North Carolina.
