Vincentian insights from the Province
Fr. Tom McKenna, CM

“As shepherd, Jesus is sharing his saving power with all of us, spreading his healing presence through the entire flock. And he makes it clear that His presence and power is also that of His Father. All three, the sheep, the shepherd and the shepherd’s God are intertwined in the one life.”
Fr. Pat Griffin, CM

“A good education provides a direct service to the poor. Enabling a woman or man with few provisions to learn material that leads to better employment and a deeper ability to care for a family points to the definition of the Vincentian charism.”

Watch as three seminarians graduate
In the May 22 issue of Vincentian Voices, Fr. Steve Grozio, CM, mentioned in his message the graduations of Carlos Baten, Saul Bonifacio, and Jinmer Martinez from St. John’s University. We had the filmmakers of Live humbly. Serve broadly. take video of the ceremony. We wish each of these men well!

Dear friends,
Almost 70 confreres, including priests, brothers, and seminarians, attended Convocation 2025 at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception last week. The venue was just right for our needs.
There was ample food for meals and breaks, facilities for sports and exercise, and plenty of meeting space. Having Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours in the beautiful chapel was far more conducive to prayer and reflection than a converted room in a hotel, and of course the best part of the meeting was being with the confreres, especially those who had recently come to the United States. Two Panamanian confreres were introduced: Fr. Diógenes Araúz, CM, who arrived in January and is ministering in Charlotte, and Fr. Orlando Chavarria, CM, who was ordained in January of 2024 and is stationed in Colón. Two Panamanian seminarians, Denis Viquez and Armando Torres, were also recognized. They have completed their studies in Philosophy and are integrated into the formation program at the Miraculous Medal House while they study English at St. John’s. Several confreres from other provinces participated in the Convocation as well, and everyone had the opportunity to meet Fr. Patrick Obot, CM, a Nigerian confrere working at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Germantown.
Family Day in Germantown
On June 1, we celebrated Family Day at St. Vincent’s Seminary. Relatives of Frs. Jim Kiernan, CM, Joe Marron, CM, and Steve Cantwell, CM, as well as several of our affiliates, joined us for the day. During the Mass we recognized the confreres celebrating their 60th, 55th, and 40th Jubilees.
