Dear friends,

When you come to Germantown, you will notice a new shrine on the Rosary Walk next to the Basilica Shrine. The Our Lady of Kibeho Shrine commemorates the Marian apparitions to three young women — Alphonsine, Anathalie, and Marie-Claire — that took place in Kibeho, Rwanda, between 1981 and 1989. The shrine is a collaboration between CAMM and the Martin de Porres Foundation. Cathy Reimel Hamilton, the President of the Foundation said, “The Basilica Shrine is a testament to the diversity of our Church. Here, people worship side by side, all races, nationalities, economic levels, coming together to honor Jesus and His Holy Mother. Adding Our Lady of Kibeho’s story will remind us that our faith is inclusive. She appeared in Rwanda with a powerful message, not just for Africa, but for the whole Church.”

Fr. Tom McKenna, CM

“Jesus turns to Peter: ‘Who is it that you say I am?’ … For all of us, this famous encounter raises the issue of listening, better ‘deep listening.’ Do we try for that in our prayer?”

Fr. Pat Griffin, CM

“I love the idea that a newborn child finds comfort on resting against the chest of his/her mother because he/she can hear and feel her heartbeat that is so familiar. Could it have been any different for Jesus?”
